Short Film Submissions

Every week Deckchair Cinema offers its audience an NT short prior to the feature. It’s a great opportunity for local filmmakers to see their work on a big screen and share it with a large audience!

If your film is selected to be screened, you’ll be invited to attend the screening (including the feature) with a guest, and we’ll promote your film through our own channels. The Darwin Film Society will pay you $150 for the right to screen the film as well.

Deckchair Cinema attracts over 45,000 visitors every year, as many tourists as locals. A sold-out screening has 420 people, looking at nothing else but your work on the big screen!

Feel free to add info in the credits to invite the audience to learn more, donate, subscribe, etc.

The short films screened prior to features at Deckchair must not exceed 10 minutes duration.

The Programming Committee will decide on the screening dates of the shorts, which should be paired with an appropriate feature (similar rating, theme, etc).

By submitting your film to Deckchair Cinema NT Shorts, you are giving permission to the Darwin Film Society to screen your film at the Deckchair Cinema season 2019, any night of the season, and up to 4 times. If your film is screened more than once you will receive an invitation and free tickets each time it is screened and $150 for the right to screen.

You are also granting Deckchair Cinema the right to use production stills and other promotion material (e.g. to advertise for the screenings).
