We're bringing back the Spark films from DIFF in May!
For the 4th consecutive year, DIFF and Screen Territory proudly presented the Spark Film Initiative showcase, a collection of commissioned short films by local emerging talent. The theme proposed to the teams was Intergenerational relationships
For the first time, Spark was joined by broadcast partner ABC, so the films can be enjoyed nation-wide!
Four incredible independent films be screened at Spark:
⭐️ A Dancer for all Seasons
Directed by Penelope Paton
A Dancer for all Seasons intimately documents choreographer Gary Lang, a much loved and revered figure in the NT dance community and director of the NT Dance Company.
⭐️ Desert Metal Dreaming
Directed by Nick (Pirate) Ned
Chris Wallace is front man of the loudest band in the desert. Auntie Kathleen Wallace raised him on Dreamtime stories. With Southeast Desert Metal, they're bringing Arrernte culture to
the world.
⭐️ Poleng
Directed by Naina Sen
Told through contemporary movement and Balinese dance, Poleng explores the simultaneous presence and absence of intergenerational relationships as Jocelyn Tribe unravels the complexities of her biracial identity as an adult.
⭐️ Uncle Vic
Directed by Emma Masters
The godfather of Darwin’s Saint Mary’s Football Club, Vic Ludwig, believes growing the junior league is the club’s strength - and the success of the Under-18 girls team heralds a new era for the game and club.
